I won't make that mistake again when buying a phone. To compensate, I was looking for a barcode scanner that was relatively small (ie, not gun/wand style), wireless, and inexpensive. Some of the smaller wireless scanners, especially the ring scanners, can be priced in the thousands. This one was under a 100 bucks, so I gave it a try. The first review is correct when they say the product title is misleading. It is not a laser scanner. It is an LED scanner. This never really bothered me, but sometimes it does take a few seconds for it to "pick up" or recognize the barcode. However, I've experienced this with laser scanners. The scanner projects a fuzzy red line instead of the crisp red line that a laser throws, but I'm not a purist so this doesn't bother me. The setup and pairing is a little fussy. Not the best performing scanner I've used, but I mostly read big shipment codes and this works well enough on them. As many have said, yeah it's not a laser scanner, but those cost easily twice as much. No USB ports on this thing, which makes using it as a batch down loader slightly more annoying, as you need to pair it with whatever you want to lead stuff onto. So only get this if you want a personal wireless barcode scanner, that is a little picky with how well it works. Basically I would only recommend using this indoors. The pairing instructions were super unclear on pairing the thing to windows 7/8 basically they don't tell you how it works. Basically Windows asks you to type a pairing code, and you need to use the scanner to write in that same code. All the instructions tell you to do is scan a "Random pin" barcode which does who knows what.
