 This is a fast and easy to use wireless barcode scanner. It comes with an AC wall charger, an instruction manual that does not tell you much, a 2.4 GHz receiver and the scanner itself. The cable from the AC wall charger to the scanner is 47 inches long. There is also a Lithium battery in the box that you may have to install. The lithium battery has a capacity of 750 mAh and it can be charged in about 2.5 hours. It will scan for 30 hours before it needs to be recharged. The USB receiver was plug and play on my laptop that I used for the test and it operated on a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz. The effective transmission distance between the scanner and the USB receiver is 30 to 50 meters or 100 to 165 feet. The scanner is very lightweight as it only weighs 5 .5 ounces. We needed a barcode reader for our school library that could simply and accurately read the barcodes on our library books. This reader was delivered "plug-in" ready and worked as soon as we took it out of the box. We had to assemble the stand that came with the reader. All we needed was a small Phillips head screwdriver and five minutes of time. The barcode reader looks functional and appropriate in the library and does its job perfectly.

I must say Taotonics's customer service is excellent. I guess I got the one in a million readers that was bad but their customer service led me through tests and we finally determined that the reader was bad. They sent me an advanced replacement (which works perfectly) and sent me a UPS label so I could send back the bad one (all on their dime). They are a wonderful company to work with and I appreciate their helpfulness. Its a great reader and worked right out of the box on Win XP (32bit) and Win 7 (64bit).
