(vs. Bluetooth LE/4 devices that can pair/unpair on command.) A cool unadvertised feature in both the listing and the manual: if you double click the trigger, it will open the onscreen keyboard for iOS. If you are looking for just a wired usb scanner, a comparable model can be found for about half the price that will be adequate for you. Most users are looking for either a wired or wireless solution, if you are in the latter bucket this scanner would be a good bar code scanner to consider. Construction on this item is fairly basic. Not incredibly durable or rugged, but will last a while if properly taken care of. The only improvement would be a rubber port saver for the USB port, not a deal breaker especially since the port is recessed pretty far. If you wanted this to work in a mailroom with 500 pkgs/day, I sense from the audible rotating laser mirror that it wouldn't last very long. However, if you are doing some simple inventory or low volume package tracking, I think it would be fine.
